Topshop Sale Starts Today

It’s one of those days that creates high-fives all ’round and a sea of smiling faces: the Topshop sale has started once more. And the reason everyone loves it so? It doesn’t have that representation of simply getting rid of a bunch of rubbish – it’s chock full of stylish bargains and this one’s no different.

We’re lusting after the array of dresses on offer. The Spray Effect Slip is a mere £10 and would look great toughened up with a leather jacket and some biker boots, while the MOTO Denim Check Shift Dress is just seriously cool as a statement on its own.

Other favourites include the Winter Bloom Bralet, as well as accessories like the Hollographic Phone Sleeve and the Rhinestone Skull Earrings.

And a true Topshop sale perusal wouldn’t be complete without a delve into footwear. The KAOS Studded Heavy Creepers are dreamy – wear them with anything for an added dose of tough.

Have you stormed the Topshop sale yet?

Festival Fashion: The 2013 Essentials

With the news that this weekend is going to reach 18°C in London, many are in disbelief while others are getting the SPF ready. Whatever your stance, you can’t help but be a little excited at the prospect of summer. We’re so ruddy giddy, in fact, that we’re already envisaging our festival wardrobes.

You may have your routine set – wellies, denim shorts, sunnies, done – but we’re here to divulge some 2013 must-haves that’ll make you stand out as the cream of the crop. Pinafore dresses are huge this year and where better to wear one than to a festival? Not only do they look seriously cool but they’re an easy style to rock – think ease of portaloo-ing, breezy in warm weather and wearable for the entire weekend with different blouses and tees underneath. We love the MOTO Clean Denim Pini Dress from Topshop.

Other pieces to arm yourself with this year include funky jewellery accessories like ear cuffs (take inspiration from the Katie Gallagher spring/summer 2013 collection as seen above) and hand chains. If you fancy upping the stakes in the footwear department then look to Mr Shoes who have the amazing GINA Transparent Festival Boots which have a touch of either blue, yellow, green or pink. How utterly brilliant are they?

You can’t go wrong with a fresh new beauty look either – opt for pink dip-dyed locks and channel Charlotte Free this summer.

Are you heading to a festival this year? Which one?

The New Nineties

Is it any wonder that the 90s is everyone’s go-to for fashion inspiration this season? No. It was an era full of carefree abandonment in terms of style – along with music and film – and its easygoing nature is a wonder to work with i.e. chuck some clothes on, head out the door. If you’re after the 90s look but don’t know where to start then take a look at our essentials guide:

You’ll need a plaid shirt. The Pink And Blue Check And Chambray Shirt from New Look is ideal because it looks a little faded – fling it over any outfit and you’ll ensure a 90s twist. Even easier than that is an oversized dress. It’s so stylishly simple, in fact, that it works all on its own. Try the Cooperative Revere Collar Babydoll Dress from Urban Outfitters.

On the accessories front you can’t go wrong with a chav-inspired gold chain (suddenly oh-so-cool) and a pair of chunky shoes. We love the Estelle Necklace from AllSaints and the Leather Flatform Loafers by J.W. Anderson for Topshop.

If you really want to take it to the next level why not throw in some double buns and a bit of dark lipstick too?

H.Samuel Jewellery Edit

There’s so much comfort in buying from a trusted retailer. You know that whatever you buy, it’s going to be of the highest quality with the best customer service in tow. That’s definitely true of H.Samuel. As the UK’s favourite high street jeweller – whose story began way back in 1862 – H.Samuel has the best sparkly offering around.

Some Ministry of Fashion favourites include the Crystal Cat Brooch (complete with whiskers and a quirky bow-tie) and the Silver Owl Stud Earrings; both animal-inspired creations are in vogue and, let’s face, completely cute. The 9ct Yellow Gold Puff Heart Charm is a gorgeous, dainty bracelet that adds an element of femininity to any outfit, while the 11″ Sterling Silver Heart Anklet speaks of a boho, carefree aesthetic that would look darling during summer with a nice pair of sandals.

Other fashionable buys include the Multi Layered Silver Coloured Strand And Key Chain (a multi-faceted design that works as a statement necklace) and the Guess Gold Plated Stone Set Heart Charm Ring; charm rings are all the rage at the moment, and this one’s an absolute treat.

H.Samuel are also famous for their diamonds (think engagement rings, bridal sets…) and watches, as well as collectibles, gifts and personalised jewellery.

Ear You Go

It’s this season’s must-have accessory. It wouldn’t even come as a surprise if you’re reading this with one perched on your ear right now. Ear cuffs are the jewellery trend du jour. You’ll find them calling out to you in practically every shop you step in; whole displays are dedicated to silver, gold and bronze ear cuffs featuring shards and spikes, chains, feathers, magical creatures and crosses.

It all started when the Mulleavy sisters sent the likes of Karlie Kloss, Jourdan Dunn and Lindsay Wixson down their spring/summer 2013 runway with dragon ear cuffs on show. Looking seriously fierce and oh-so-cool when combined with wet-look hairdos, the Rodarte designers have developed a cult of edgy, rock ‘n’ roll ear pieces that have totally swept styledom.

And the best thing about them? Designs like the Rodarte ones above are suitable for non-pierced ears too. There’s no need to give into the piercing gun now, is there?

You can shop our range of ear cuffs from the likes of Topshop, Miss Selfridge and New Look here.

Summer Lovin’

Is anyone else wandering around in this dismal weather with the sounds of birds chirping and ice-cream slurping in their head? Just me? It can’t be. The high street is seriously hotting up with new season pieces screaming of summer, and it’s enough to make us wish away the next few months. Take a look at some of our favourite summery picks available now…

1. Vintage Renewal Grade 1 Levi’s 501 Jeans by Urban Outfitters: It’s not always super hot in ol’ Blighty so a pair of summer trousers is key – how about these ultra cool high-waisted Levi jeans which look cool with bare ankles?

2. Black Felt Floppy Hat by Miss Selfridge: Super stylish and protective against those harmful rays, invest in an amazing hat for 2013. This floppy hat reeks of the Saint Laurent SS13 collection.

3. Spot Bib And Brace Playsuit by Miss Selfridge: Polka dots + playsuit = a match made in summery heaven.

4. Green Neon Spike Necklace by New Look: Also available in neon pink, this statement necklace is an outfit-maker at just £5.99.

5. Hexagon Rimless Round Sunglasses by Topshop: Rather than simply opting for simple oversized sunnies this year, how about a quirky design like these geometric beauts?

6. Tall California Tee by Topshop: Nothing says summer like California.

7. Cream Strawberry Socks by Dorothy Perkins: Add an idiosyncratic touch to your outfits this summer with cutey-patootie printed socks like this strawberry pair.

8. Creep Platform Lo Metallic Flats by Schuh: How amazing would these metallic platform trainers look with a pair of denim shorts and bare legs?

Are you excited for summer?

The sales have offered some right corkers so far haven’t they? It’s becoming increasingly difficult to avoid bagging a bargain so we’ve chosen some of favourite items that could easily become wardrobe favourites…

You’ve got the essentials such as the Topshop A-Line Sixties Swing Coat (a rather pretty essential with its vintage aesthetic and strong mustard colour) and the Topshop Knitted Crosses Split Jumper; its back features a split down the middle, ensuring it to be a perfect transitional piece into spring. You’ve also got the H! by Henry Holland Bright Pink Long Double Buckle Satchel Bag from Debenhams which turns an everyday must into something lust-worthy.

Other items just scream ‘buy me!’ for no apparent reason apart from their fabulousness. There’s the Motel Rocks Gracie Triangle Cut-Out Playsuit In Black And White Stripe and the Joseph Cori Jumpsuit from Selfridges. We’re also in love with the Boohoo Dotty Oversized Studded Top With PVC Heart, which is also available in grey and white.

January is also the perfect time to invest in a pair of amazing heels such as the Charlotte Olympia Regina Embellished Satin Wedge Courts from Selfridges which are £949 down from £1,895. The same goes for underwear – how about the Elle Macpherson Intimates Cloud Swing set?

MBEs For Tatty Devine Founders

Amidst all the Olympians finding themselves on the New Year Honours List for 2013, there’s a fair few fashion-givers who are being congratulated. Stella McCartney is, of course, well deserving. As are the founders of jewellery brand Tatty Devine - Harriet Vine and Rosie Wolfenden – who are receiving MBEs for ‘Services to the Fashion Industry’.

Established in 1999 after the darling duo met at Chelsea Art School, Tatty Devine is a successful jewellery line that’s well-known for its laser-cut Perspex designs and colourful creations.

“We are very proud and honoured to be awarded in this year’s list,” said the girls. “We want to thank all our customers for their support. Tatty Devine has now become a small but important contributor to the UK economy, and we are proud to represent British design and manufacturing around the world. Everything about Tatty Devine is a result of the collaboration and friendship between us. It’s brilliant we’re getting these medals together.”

Staff Style: Black & White

Donning all black and white is rather uncharacteristic of me but I love it. Practically a walking Topshop billboard today – who can help it? – I have the highly-popular high street chain to thank for my exciting new purchases. The oversized, contrasting sleeves t-shirt is understandably cosy and has the desired effect of covering up most people’s problem area – perfect.

To give my upper half a little more pizazz, I added this so-tacky-it’s-unreal statement jewel necklace. Something like this has the ability to completely change your look – no longer am I a boy, for instance.

I also got these Petite Flocked Check Treggings from Topshop too. Of the black and white print, the black is actually velvet in texture so they have the potential to be jazzed up for an evening outfit. Topshop treggings are always a great shout so be sure to check them out.

And, er, my lipstick is Topshop too. In fact it’s Lip Stick in ‘Hedonist’; a delightful orange shade that I don’t think I could live without now. My shoes are the Jodi Creeper Chelsea Boots from Mr Shoes – another thing I most definitely want to wear forever.

Do you have any lovely new purchases or can’t-live-without-them items?
