Watch Stars – Celebrities and their Timepieces

The watch a celebrity chooses says a lot about their tastes and their lifestyle. We’ve rounded up a list of some of the biggest female stars and their preferred timepieces. You might find yourself nodding along as these women are rarely seen without their favourite watches!

Angelina Jolie – Chanel Premiere

Angie’s watch of choice is a delicate, diamond-studded watch from Chanel. She’s been spotted at several press meetings wearing the classic ceramic-and-steel style. It perfectly exemplifies the grown-up style that Angelina has been sporting for quite some time. Angelina has been seen wearing the black ceramic style, but the watch also comes in dazzling white ceramic and rubber.

The Olsen Sisters – Rolex Daytona

Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen have been wearing their imposing yellow-gold Rolexes around their tiny wrists since their late teens. You could almost say that they singlehandedly kept the trend for men’s luxury watches on women alive in the last ten years. The twins wear their pricey watches in a very casual way – piling on woven bracelets and crystal jewellery around the expensive timepieces.

Rihanna – Rolex Day Date Presidential

Rihanna prefers to sport the smaller, slightly more delicate women’s Rolex model. Rihanna is a woman who can wear anything – any makeup style, any piece of clothing – and make it look fantastic. So naturally she can mix her Rolex together with any outfit and it just looks right.

Kim Kardashian – Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Skeleton

Kim Kardashian is known for her frugal approach to fashion. Oh, sorry, let’s start again. The family name ‘Kardashian’ is synonymous with extravagant taste and Kim has been seen sporting her solid gold Audemars Piguet on a number of occasions. Kim recently attended a dinner thrown by the brand with her new boyfriend Kanye West in tow.

In some ways a watch is the ultimate status symbol. It says “I can afford a watch as pricey as your car or a deposit on a house”. It also says, “and I’m extremely serious and busy about making more money – so if you’ll excuse me…” Which celebrity has the best watch style and which watch are you lusting after the most?

Kate Middleton in coral coloured jeans

When the gorgeous Duchess of Cambridge turned up to play field hockey at Olympic Park last Thursday, she once again proved that she’s the UK’s most influential fashion figure.

Kate arrived to meet the British women’s field hockey team wearing a pair of three-quarter length coral skinny jeans, which she had styled with an Emilio Pucci blazer, navy pump heels and an official GB supporter’s scarf.

Later, when Catherine stepped out onto the Hockey field, onlookers saw that she had swapped her blazer for a grey hooodie and her pumps for a pair of Adidas sneakers but kept the bittersweet-red coloured jeans.

Ever since last week’s sighting we’ve all been reaching for the coloured denim pieces in our closets and UK sales of coral jeans have soared. Kate’s style has created a frenzy in the fashion world, and what was already set to be a popular mini trend over the summer months is now fashion’s latest must have.

But the Duchess of Cambridge is not the only celeb donning bright jeans, Jessica Alba, Nicola Roberts, Petra Ecclestone and Fearne Cotton are all embracing the coloured jeans trend and even Kate’s stylish sister Pippa Middleton was spotted in neon pink denim.

Styling a pair of coloured jeans couldn’t be easier, and Kate’s outing last Thursday has proved just how versatile they can be. Don’t let the vibrant burst of colour trick you into over-thinking your outfit, keep things cool, simple and treat your coloured jeans exactly as you would a traditional blue-wash pair.

So go bright and bold like Kate! Salmon and coral colours are the obvious choices but tropical hues of tangerine, green and red are equally as stylish. Or, if you prefer a sweeter sugary look, grab bright pastel denim numbers in shades mint, lavender and pink. Just take a peek at what boohoo‘s latest collection has to offer, we have fallen in love with their pastel coral pink jeans.

Great news girls! Our favourite new designer and our most beloved store have collaborated together to create a capsule collection to go down in history.

Yes that’s right! Mary Kantrantzou has teamed up with Topshop and designed a range of beautiful yet affordable clothes.

Ministry of Fashion has had a sneak peak at the dazzling new collection and we couldn’t be more excited!

Since Mary Katrantzou ‘wowed’ the fashion elite last year, the young designer’s creations have become the hottest items on the catwalk. Alexa Chung, Keira Knightly, Florence Welch and Hailee Steinfeld have all been spotted in Miss Katrantzou’s whimsical prints. Mary Katrantzou’s intricate and vibrant patterns are like scenes from paradise, and they won her the coveted Emerging Talent Award at the British Fashion Awards.

The designer’s range for Topshop references her awe-inspiring Autumn/Winter 11 mainline collection and is packed full of Katrantzou’s signature prints and structural silhouettes.

To coincide with London Fashion Week the vibrant prints will be available from Friday the 17th of February. So if you want to get your hands on any of the collection’s easy-to-wear tailored trousers, simple tees and party dresses, then act quickly, as they aren’t expected to stick around for long.

iwhoretees! Powerful fashion statement tees!

T-shirt addicts beware! One look at iwhoretees’ bold extroverted designs and you’ll be hooked.

iwhoretees’ aim is to encourage and ‘love the out-going crazy side of people that is dying to escape’, and they certainly achieve this with their powerful in-your-face statement tees.

My personal favourite from the iwhoretees collection has to be the feisty leopard print ‘Phwoarrrrrr’ t-shirt in white.

I can’t get over the detail that’s gone into this t-shirt; the bright block-printed leopard print design that stands out from afar, the subtle burnout details that I almost missed at first glance and the adorable trademark red heart button sewn into the tee’s collar.

In my opinion a girl can never go wrong with a bright dose of leopard print! And with its oversized fit, the ‘Phwoarrrrrr’ t-shirt is ultra flattering and can be worn a multitude of ways.

I’ve been dressing this iwhoretees t-shirt up and giving it a rock n’ roll edge with a killer pair of studded platform heels and some leather shorts, as well as a high ponytail, in order to show off the heart shape button at the back of the tee. Just add a bright splash of red lipstick to this you’ve got yourself a glam look for night or day.

The brand’s ultimate fashion statement tees, are sure to be a massive hit over the summer season, and if the following collections of tees are anywhere near as exciting as the current, then iwhoretees are in for a fantastic future!

This is definitely one t-shirt brand to keep and eye on. iwhoretees indeed!

Printmonkey Flock T-Shirt… Simple and Inspiring

Not long ago they featured as our boutique of the week but we’re still going mad for Printmonkey and their contemporary T-shirt designs.

Perhaps the biggest hit here at the Ministry of Fashion head quarters has been the brand’s ‘Flock’ tee. The whole office loves the simple yet majestic quality of the T-shirt so much that it has become a permanent feature in our t-shirt gallery.

One hundred per cent cotton and fair trade to boot ‘Printmonkey is about connecting style and quality’, and the ‘Flock’ T-shirt certainly delivers on both. This youthful unisex design has a photographic quality that is bound to be popular with both men and women alike, and the T-shirt’s classic shape and monochrome design is as easy as pie to style.

As t-shirt connoisseur, I can’t imagine a better way to greet the spring season than with this tee and its beautiful inspiring image of birds in flight.  And until the sun starts shining in full, I’ll be keep things simple and wearing my Printmonkey ‘Flock’ T-shirt underneath a boyfriend style blazer with skinny jeans and my favourite pair of Converse sneakers.
